The parking was terrible, really terrible, but I grew up near this area, and with Landmarks like the former Sears tower, I was able to locate parking with my friends in a great spot, though it took about 20 minutes. Seriously, we walked about five blocks over to the club, but were just in time to see Body of Light. Praise to the venue staff, they were really friendly, they liked my see-through purse, and got all of us in without any hassle.

The Body of Light show throughout, was amazing. The brothers Andrew and Alexander Jarson play an excellent synthpop , enticing the crowd to join them in their techno hybrid. The Jarson brothers are incredibly talented musicians, I confidently say with skills to push Body of Light to another level . I have heard their new single! Awesome Squared….

Covenant pulled out the electricity for “Sequencer,” all the harmony, their musicality continuously validating their staying power. The crowd the entire night shouting, arms in the air, fists pumping, dancing to the magic of Covenant. Eskil Simonsson stopping the show while they rebooted a computer, thanking all of for being there, telling us he’s humbled being from a small town in Sweden, and back to the performance continuously validating the magical staying power of Covenant.

The audience went wild when he they played Dead Stars, they didn’t play my favorite song Bullet ; I’m greedy!

I stood with my friends the entire night shouting, arms in the air, fists pumping, and my heart happy.

My second time seeing Covenant, another wonderfully terrific show!

Covenant is playing in Los Angles with Special guest Body of Light.

 

I saw Covenant and several other bands a few years back at the old Bunker location, parking was terrible, and I hear this location isn’t an improvement. I know the area very well, so let’s see!

 

Bunker does put on great shows, and Covenant sounds great live, and interacts with the crowd making for an enjoyable show; most importantly - no fights!

 

Body of Light is an awesome group, so I’m looking forward to seeing them live, so this show is a double win!

 

Lest see, I’m going with friends , hopefully we have a great time.

 

Poppy is going on tour; I saw her open for Smashing Pumpkins. She had a short set, but her band was tight, got the crowd going, and really impressed me. She has a new single out, so I may purchase some tickets, I’m seriously thinking about it.

 

Have tickets to see Ville Valo from HIM in San Diego, I was really hoping to see him again in Los Angeles, but by the time I went to get the tickets, literally 5 minutes after I purchased the San Diego tickets, the Los Angeles tickets doubled in price. Well, I have to settle with seeing Ville Valo once only! What the Hell!

 

Finally, The 69 Eyes will be at Brick by Brick in San Diego and I was able to get tickets , and a group of my friends are all going together. Seems all the bands are hitting the road, so I’m going broke.

With all the Gothic and Industrial band reforming, and or going on tours as of late, it’s too bad Tina Root, Susan Wallace , and George Earth of Switchblade Symphony are not reforming! Rumor had it, when they dissolved, they had material yet to be released! Cleopatra remixes, and repackages them over and over again, but to see them tour, and possibly release new material would be indeed awesome squared.

 

PIL competed in Euro Vision representing Ireland, appears the song “Hawaii” is dedicated to his wife who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. My engineer again has a weird cosmic connection, his father years ago (way back in the 80’s) hired PIL’s sound engineer. So he used hear all kinds of really cool stories about John Lydon. That’s for another blog!

 

Sadly, with the passing of Pete Steele over a decade back, Type O Negative is over. I was lucky however, and was able to see them a few times. Anyway, we still have the great albums, and interviews.

 

Looks like Love and Rockets will be hitting the road in May, and will be playing at the Cruel World Festival, thankfully I was able to get tickets!

 

Seems many bands like Birthday Massacre, She Past Away, and The 69 Eyes will be playing at Brick by Brick in San Diego. So far, I have tickets to 69 eyes, and She Past Away, as to Birthday Massacre, I’m not sure if I’ll get tickets as I will be seeing them in May, who knows???

 

 

Finally, Ednaswap. I’m not sure where they fit really, but I have always thought they were an awesome. Several years back they wrote Torn, which was covered by Natalie Imbruglia, and her version became a huge hit, and Madonna even covered one of their songs  Sanctuary. While they are no longer active as a band, they are indeed worth a listen.
